Galen College of Nursing Names Joan Frey Dean of Nursing

LOUISVILLE, KY. – May 19, 2008 – Galen College of Nursing today announced that accomplished nurse educator Joan L. Frey, EdD, RN, CNAA, has been named Dean of Nursing for the college’s Louisville campus.

With more than 20 years of nursing, nursing education, and administration experience, Frey joins Galen after having led Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Canton, Ohio, in a number of capacities, culminating in her service as Director of the Division of Nursing.

Frey, a current member of the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Board of Governor’s, has a long professional history of service with the NLN, having served on numerous committees and task forces. She is also an accomplished researcher and presenter, having presented nationally.

“Dr. Frey is a tremendous addition to our college,” said Tracy A. Ortelli, MS, RN, CNE, Vice President of Academic Affairs for Galen. “She is a nationally recognized leader in nursing education whose expertise and presence in Louisville will greatly contribute to our mission of providing unsurpassed quality in nursing education. We are very excited and fortunate to have her join Galen College of Nursing.”
